Meet Our Staff:

 

Requirements for teaching at Bliss Yoga are extremely extensive. In addition to ongoing formal training, we expect our instructors to be practicing asana 5-7 days a week and practicing meditation 7 days a week. You can expect your instructor to have some fluency in of all 8 Limbs of Classic Yoga, to be living a Yogic lifestyle, to be continuing with his or her formal education in Yoga and to be able to offer wisdom from real, personal experience in all aspects of the practice.
 
   
 


Shri Hamilton-Hubbard gave birth to Bliss Yoga in May 2001 in order to create a community where all 8 limbs of Yoga were studied and practiced, not simply the physical exercises. In 4 years, the studio expanded 3 times to finally settle into our current location, a charming 1920's former home.

Shri has studied Integral Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Anusara Yoga, and Vinyasa Flow/Power Yoga. She practices Ashtanga Yoga and teaches a creative and powerful vinyasa class incorporating pranayama, chanting, and meditation. Shri has a daily practice of asana and meditation and only brings in teachers who have that same dedication and commitment to the practice. Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Sri Divyananda Saraswati, her guru, continue to be life long influences in her practice and teaching,as well as Yogiraj Sri Satchidananda, Dr. Deepak Chopra and Swamiji Muktananda of Rishikesh, India..


 
  Stan Hubbard,a certified Yoga Instructor and licensed acupuncture physician, has practiced various styles of Yoga over the last 31 years and now focuses primarily on Ashtanga Yoga.

Shri and Stan have studied all over the world with many of today's foremost teachers including Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Manju Jois, John Friend, David Swenson, Rodney Yee, Tim Miller, Aadil Palkivala, David Life, Rod Stryker, Shiva Rea, Bryan Kest, Beryl Bender Birch, Seane Corn, Tias Little, Baron Baptiste, Rolf Gates, Nancy Gilgoff, Nicki Doane and Eddie Modestini, Betsey Downing, Esther Meyers, TKV Desikachar, Erich Schiffmann, and David Williams.
    Brenda Star Walker,a licensed Massage Therapist and certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor, teaches a gentle style of Yoga and continues to study under Deolal Mahabir.

    Bethany Crawley practices and teaches an athletic Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Gentle Yoga. In addition to studying with Shri and Stan, she has studied with Manju Jois, Rolf Gates and Shiva Rea. She was a gymnast and dancer between the ages five and fourteen and then started spring board and tower diving. In Yoga, she finds the strength of gymnastics, the grace of dance, the weightlessness of diving and a path for spiritual growth.

 
Sharon Timpke completed her 200 hour training at Yoga Den and a 40 hour training at Bliss Yoga. Sharon Timpke, a liscensed massage therapist and yoga instructor.

Her desire and goal is to share yoga's benefits with others by uniting physical strength and spiritual growth with the mind. She has been practicing for over 3 years and continues attending workshops to keep growing in her practice.

 

 
Sherri Meadows
has been practicing Yoga
with Shri & Stan Hubbard for 5 years. Having
gained a strong awareness of the benefits
of a regular Yoga and Meditation practice,
Sherri decided to take the 200 Hour Teacher
Training Certification at Bliss Yoga, which she
comleted in February of 2007. She also
recently completed an Ashtanga Vinyasa
Yoga Workshop with Manju Jois in January 26-28, 2007. Her hope
as an Instructor at Bliss, is to expand her
knowledge of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and
to teach a strong athletic and creative style
to students.
 
 
Lee Anne MacDade
has been practicing yoga for about (4) four years. Initially her practice began due to a lower back injury, but soon the practice grew into more. The idea of bringing the mind, body and spirit together in unity made her fall in love with practicing yoga on a daily basis and has evolved into a way of life. She received her training from Bliss Yoga Studio under the guidance of Shri and Stan Hubbard. She has both a 40 Hour Vinyasa Flow Certification and a 200 Hour Teacher Training Certification. She plans on continuing her education. After receiving her initial certifications, Lee Anne has been fortunate enough to teach yoga in many different aspects and environments. She teaches in the studio but also in a corporate setting, as well as privately. Lee Anne has also had the opportunity to attend many Workshops and Yoga Conferences and has studied with John Friend, Natasha Rizopoulos, Byan Kest, Sean Corn, and Shiva Rea. Lee Anne lives with her family in the Avondale area.


 

  Pam Sorenson as an avid practitioner for over 8 years, Pam Sorenson has witnessed the lifechanging effects yoga has had in her own life. The physical changes of strength and flexibility are equaled with the sense of peace and comfort she has experienced with a dedicated practice. Sharing that feeling of wholeness is her goal as a teacher. After completing the 40 and 200 hour Teacher Training's at Bliss, she has continued her training, taking workshops with Erich Schiffman, Gary Krafstow, and Manju Jois and classes with Shiva Rae, Sean Corn, Cyndi Lee at yoga conferences.
